Pulaski Conty Collector Terri Mitchell

PULASKI COUNTY, Mo. (Dec. 31, 2021) -- Those who waited until the last minute to pay their property taxes have just over two hours left to pay in person at the Pulaski County Courthouse in downtown Waynesville, where unlike the rest of the county offices, County Collector Terri Mitchell is keeping her office open today for regular hours until 4:30 p.m.

The Pulaski County Sheriff's Department is providing security in the courthouse during the tax collection process. Tax payments can be mailed and the bills will still be considered paid on time if they're postmarked today, but Mitchell cautioned that taxpayers need to be sure the post office where they drop off payments postmarks the payments on Dec. 31.

Other options include going online until midnight tonight to pay bills by credit card or debit card, but those who do so will have to pay a credit card fee charged by the bank that, by state law, can't be absorbed by the county as many businesses do with credit card payments. Those who don't pay their taxes on time are required by state law to be charged state-mandated penalties which cannot be waived by the county collectors.
