County boiler repair expected to run $60,000
PULASKI COUNTY, Mo. (March 7, 2019) — During a mostly quiet county commission meeting in Thursday, commissioners agreed to send out bids for the courthouse boiler system.

"We've got three of them," said Presiding Commissioner Gene Newkirk. "One's running, one's done for, and we're using it for parts to keep the one running."

Responding to questions, Newkirk said he expects the cost will be in the range of $60,000 but won't know until bids are advertised and returned. Newkirk said he hopes to see a local company hired but is primarily concerned about the cost to the county.

Newkirk said a roofing contractor evaluated the Pulaski County Courthouseroof and said the roof is newer than it appears and can still be repaired rather than replaced, costing far less money than expected.

In other business, Jail Study Committee chairman Zach Shepherd and County Attorney Kevin Hillman met with the commissioners in closed session regarding unspecified matters.
