SAINT ROBERT, Mo. (Dec. 29, 2021) -- A Tuesday afternoon crash on I-44 snarled traffic and left a wrecked car in the median overnight until it could be removed on Wednesday.

According to Missouri State Highway Patrol reports, Daniel L. Switzer, 24, of St. Louis, was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu westbound when he ran off the left side of the road near mile marker 160.2 and struck the cable barrier in the median, sending debris into the eastbound lanes that struck a 2013 Freightliner box van driven by Dalton C. Crum, 26, of Rolla.

Crum's vehicle had only minor damage and was driven from the scene. Switzer's vehicle was extensively damaged and removed by Jacks Wrecker and Recovery. Both men had been wearing their seatbelts and both were transported by ambulance to Phelps Health in Rolla for treatment of minor injuries.
